The happy eleven.
Every fruit, in merge order. Two of the same make the next one up.
-

Blueberry
- Rung 1 of 11
- Two make Strawberry
The first rung, and the smallest thing in the box. Every run you have ever played started with one of these.
She is the only fruit who has watched every single game you have played, from the first drop to the last. She keeps no diary and holds no grudges. She just bounces, waits, and turns into somebody bigger.
-

Strawberry
- Rung 2 of 11
- Two make Grape
The second rung. Small enough to slip into a gap, big enough to start a chain.
He wears his seeds on the outside and insists this is confidence, not a design flaw. Ask about it and he will change the subject to how many chains he has started. It is a lot. He is not exaggerating.
-

Grape
- Rung 3 of 11
- Two make Lemon
The third rung. Purple, patient, and the first fruit that has to actually look for its twin.
The quiet one. She rolls into a corner and waits there, sometimes for a very long time. When the twin finally lands, neither of them says a word. They simply become a lemon and move on.
-

Lemon
- Rung 4 of 11
- Two make Persimmon
The fourth rung. The last fruit that still fits almost anywhere you drop it.
He is cheerful in a way that makes the bigger fruit suspicious. Nobody has ever caught him sour. The rumour near the bottom of the box is that he practises the smile, but nobody can prove it.
-

Persimmon
- Rung 5 of 11
- Two make Apple
The fifth rung. Halfway up the ladder — and the point where space starts to matter.
She is the middle child of the box and behaves exactly like one. Too big to hide at the bottom, too small to rule the top. So she made peace with the middle, and now gives advice nobody asked for.
-

Apple
- Rung 6 of 11
- Two make Avocado, on Hard
The sixth rung. Everyone assumes the apple is the original and every other fruit is a variation.
He has never once corrected that assumption. Between us: he arrived sixth, like everybody else, and simply carries himself well. It is a masterclass, and the strawberry is taking notes.
-

Avocado
- Rung 7 of 11
- Two make Coconut
- Hard only
The seventh rung — and only on Hard. Easy and Normal skip this fruit completely.
He refuses to appear unless the difficulty is set to Hard, which he considers dignified and everyone else considers dramatic. He will tell you, unprompted, that he has a stone heart. Nobody has the heart to mention that avocados are technically berries.
-

Coconut
- Rung 8 of 11
- Two make Pineapple
The eighth rung. Brown, round, and considerably heavier than it looks.
The oldest soul in the box. He has been drifting somewhere for a very long time, and it shows in how slowly he settles. When he finally lands, the whole pile shifts to make room, and he pretends not to notice.
-

Pineapple
- Rung 9 of 11
- Two make Melon
The ninth rung. Golden, crowned, and the first fruit that genuinely crowds the box.
She wears a crown and expects it to be mentioned. It is the only crown in the box, so — fair. Two pineapples make a melon, which she calls a promotion and everyone below her calls a traffic problem.
-

Melon
- Rung 10 of 11
- Two make Watermelon
- Normal and Hard only
The tenth rung, on Normal and Hard. The Easy ladder leaves this rung out.
The big friendly one, right up until the moment there is no room left. He does not mean to block anything. He simply occupies the space a melon occupies, and apologises with his eyes.
-

Watermelon
- Rung 11 of 11
- Two make two of them stop smiling
The top rung, on every difficulty. There is nothing above her.
She is the end of the ladder and she knows it. Every fruit below her is, in a sense, a younger version of herself. Put two of her together and she stops smiling — but that is a story for the Game Play page.
